Have a look at the slides for Terry Tao’s nontechnical talk on the cosmic distance ladder. It is a great story of ideas about measuring the cosmos from the ancient Greeks to the present.  It is full of History, Math, and Science.  If you or your kids are interested in space, don’t miss it!
